Presented in official selection and as the opening film at the last Cannes Film Festival, acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, COUPEZ! also opened the last Fantasia festival on July 15. The Fantasia festival also helped popularise the film One cut of the dead, which was presented in 2018 at Fantasia and inspired director Michel Hazanavicius to write COUPEZ!

Directed and scripted by Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist), and starring Romain Duris and Bérénice Bejo, the comedy COUPEZ! takes us through the behind-the-scenes of a zombie movie shoot in an abandoned building, shot in a single sequence for a live broadcast on a Japanese website, which turns into a disaster. Between jaded technicians and uninvolved actors, only the director seems invested with the energy to bring this horror film to life.

COUPEZ! is a film with a striking concept; a beginning bordering on disaster that quickly takes a turn to end in a totally unexpected and explosive way!

Michel Hazanavicius is a French director, screenwriter, editor and actor, and is known to the general public for directing two spy film parodies with Jean Dujardin, OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies and OSS 117: Rio Doesn’t Answer Any More, as well as the black and white romantic silent film The Artist, also starring Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Béjo. The latter film won over 100 awards in 2012, including the British Academy Film Award for Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Director, the César Awards for Best Picture and Best Director, and the Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for Jean Dujardin. COUPEZ! is his eighth feature film.
