SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13/IMPERIAL CINEMA
The CINEMANIA Francophone Film Festival and LES FILMS OPALE have announced that the feature film TEMPÊTE directed by Christian Duguay will close the 28th edition of CINEMANIA on Sunday, November 13 at the Imperial Cinema, before opening in cinemas on December 21. For the occasion, filmmaker Christian Duguay and actor Pio Marmaï will be in Montreal to present this film to the Quebec public. Adapted from Christophe Donner’s children’s novel Tempête au haras, TEMPÊTE stars Pio Marmaï (En corps), Mélanie Laurent (Le bal des folles), Carole Bouquet (Les Fantasmes), and Carmen Kassovitz (L’été nucléaire).
Born on her parents’ stud farm, Zoé grew up surrounded by horses and has only one dream: to become a jockey. Tempête, a filly she sees born, will become her alter ego. But one stormy evening, a tragic event shatters all her dreams. Yet she will hang on, whatever the cost for years, and will try the impossible to reconnect with her destiny.

Quebec director Christian Duguay presents TEMPÊTE his fourteenth feature film, after the successes of Jappeloup (2013) and Belle et Sébastien: l’aventure continue (2015). To bring to life his screenplay in which he reconnects with the equine world, the filmmaker has joined forces with a five-star cast led by Pio Marmaï, Mélanie Laurent, Carole Bouquet, and Carmen Kassovitz. The result is a horse/human epic, set in the picturesque landscapes of Normandy.
Co-produced by Canada and France by Marie-Claude Poulin, Joe Iacono and Christian Duguay for IDL FILMS and Nolita Cinema, Pathé Films, TF1 Studio and France 2 Cinéma (France), TEMPÊTE is distributed in Canada by Les Films Opale and will open on December 21.
