The Eloquent Reticence of Eugene McCabe: a farmer who writes…a writer who farms
Annual Bishop Neil Willard Lecture by Dr. Eóin Flannery, 2022 O’Brien Visiting Scholar in Irish Studies. Friday, November 18 at 7:00 pm, 1455 de Maisonneuve West, Room H 1001.01 (McEntee Reading Room, 10th floor) Dr. Flannery’s research interests include ecocriticism; Celtic Tiger writing; cultural theory; postmodern and postcolonial literature and theory; the Gothic; visual cultures; and Irish poetry and prose. He has published widely on these topics including Form, Affect and Debt in Post-Celtic Tiger Fiction (Bloomsbury, 2022) and Ireland and Ecocriticism: Literature, History and Environmental Justice (Routledge, 2016). Among other publications, he currently has another two monographs in preparation: Sounding the Contemporary: Ecocritical readings of Twenty-First Century British and Irish Poetry and Environments on the Edge: Ecology, Colonialism, and Identities in Contemporary Fiction. Dr. Flannery is currently teaching Contemporary Irish Literature and Irish Ecocritical Writing at Concordia University.
