N HIS OWN WORDS: XXXTENTACION is released internationally via Altavod. The FADER Films production is made possible with never-before-seen footage of the impactful, extremely controversial great American artist XXXTENTACION, recorded during an exclusive interview with the FADER in 2017. IN HIS OWN WORDS will provide viewers with an incredibly raw, unique perspective into the mind of Jaseh Onfroy (XXXTENTACION), which sees the late cultural mover give insight on topics that many artists don’t explore in a public manner, ranging from how he views himself, to his place in the world and society as a whole. The film’s much-anticipated release follows a string of successful premieres in London, Paris and Berlin in partnership with NME.
IN HIS OWN WORDS: XXXTENTACION serves as the companion film to the highly praised Hulu documentary LOOK AT ME: XXXTENTACION, which was released exclusively in the US through Hulu on May 25, 2022. Today, LOOK AT ME is released internationally for the first time with the included footage seen in IN HIS OWN WORDS.
IN HIS OWN WORDS: XXXTENTACION explores themes of his art and music, the fame, his fans, his views on human evolution, his track record with violence and his time spent in jail. The interview is interpolated with intimate moments between Onfroy and his mother Cleopatra Bernard, his manager Solomon Sobande and more, an intriguing inside look into the mind of the Broward County, Florida artist and his complicated, divisive life. Told from his own perspective, IN HIS OWN WORDS: XXXTENTACION offers a portrayal of an artist whose acts of violence, raw musical talent and open struggles with mental health continue to leave an indelible mark on his generation after his death at the age of 20.
“Cleopatra, Solomon and I watched the Fader-Jahseh one-on-one interview from 2017. It was emotional, chilling, insightful and tragic on a multitude of levels. It instantaneously brought us closer together. It feels only right to share it with his fans and the world, Jahseh in his own words.” – Rob Stone, Co-Founder of The FADER and FADER Films.
