by Maude Plante-Husaruk and Maxime Lacoste-Lebuis

In theatres December 9

Several screening events hosted by the filmmakers

Les Films du 3 Mars has announced the holding of screening events as part of the theatrical release of Far Beyond the Pasturelands, the first feature documentary produced and directed by Maude Plante-Husaruk and Maxime Lacoste-Lebuis. The film takes place across breathtaking landscapes, in a remote region of the Himalayas, where a 22-year-old villager and mother prepares to harvest a mysterious mushroom worth more than gold in hopes of providing a better life for her family.

Far Beyond the Pasturelands will open in theatres on December 9 in Montreal (Cinéma Beaubien, Cinéma du Parc, Cinémathèque québécoise, and Cinéma Public) and Sherbrooke (La Maison du cinéma). Screening events will take place on December 9, 10 and 11, with the filmmakers in attendance. Also on the occasion of the release of the film, photograms from Far Beyond the Pasturelands will be exhibited on the 2nd floor of the Cinémathèque québécoise, facing the Fernand-Seguin Room.

In a remote Himalayan region, the villagers of Maikot are preparing for the harvest of a mysterious aphrodisiac caterpillar-mushroom worth more than gold. Lalita, a young mother, had to let go of her dreams after getting married because of the social pressures of her community. As the whole village departs to the mountains, she joins the journey to the high-altitude pasturelands in the hope of providing a better life for her family through the hazardous harvest of the rare mushroom. Set against the backdrop of stunning mountainous landscapes, the film presents an intimate and humane portrait of characters that put everything on the line for a chance to ascend to greener pastures. Will the harvest be good this year?
