Starring renowned actresses and popular superstars Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, and Sally Field, the new football comedy “80 For Brady” depicts the true story of a group of female friends who become devoted followers of the New England Patriots, primarily due to their admiration for quarterback Tom Brady.
The movie commences with the four women, who are not yet avid football fans, watching a game where they witness the beginning of Brady’s successful career. They develop a deep fondness for the quarterback and eventually win Super Bowl tickets and travel to Super Bowl LI in 2017 to see Brady lead his team against the Atlanta Falcons. Despite their ages, ranging from 70s to 80s, they continue to gather each year to watch Brady play and offer him a pep talk during the historic game where the Patriots made a stunning comeback to win.
The extras consist of five “featurettes” that run for a total of around 40 minutes, and while they may not be exceptional, they are not subpar either. Generally, “80 For Brady” is a charming comedy that showcases the incredible acting talents of Tomlin, Fonda, Moreno, and Field. The actresses infuse the story with humor and heart, making it a joy to watch and a must-see for fans of both football and comedy.
