To my surprise, I was unprepared for the massive crowd of over 30,000 fans that filled the venue, making it incredibly challenging to find parking. This was my first time attending a Shania Twain concert, and I was genuinely excited to witness her incredible talent on stage.
The Canadian superstar took the spotlight last night, delivering a captivating performance that moved the audience and even brought tears to the eyes of some emotionally charged younger women. Interestingly, there seemed to be a higher concentration of women in attendance compared to most other concerts I had been to. Some of the ladies went all out, many donning short shorts, cowboy hats, and boots. Navigating through the enthusiastic crowd was quite a sweaty challenge, but everyone was thrilled to be there, creating an atmosphere brimming with positive energy.
Around 9:07 pm, Twain made her grand entrance in a black trench coat and flashy gold studded sunglasses, magically appearing before the stage. Unfortunately, I was positioned far back, so it was difficult to see all the details. However, the Canadian Diva effortlessly connected with her fans, kicking off her set with the newly released track “Waking Up Dreaming.” As the night approached 10 pm, people started to disperse, culminating in Twain’s performance of her platinum-winning single, “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!”
This Ottawa concert turned out to be an unexpectedly delightful experience. I never did find my phone, but I realized how gratifying it is to enjoy outdoor music and forget about the surpluses that sometimes bog us down. The fans in Ottawa are truly amazing, and the sound system provided an awesome audio experience. The music of Shania Twain touched the hearts of many, and I developed a newfound appreciation for this Canadian gem.
