Renowned guitarist and composer Bill Frisell, boasts a celebrated discography praised by Downbeat as the best of the decade. Known for his distinctive improvisational style and knack for weaving thematic connections in music, Frisell curated the Roots of Americana series for Jazz at Lincoln Center.

His latest album, “Valentine,” a trio collaboration on Blue Note with Thomas Morgan and Rudy Royston, received acclaim as a masterpiece by Downbeat. The trio’s seamless synergy and organic performances showcase jazz at its most sublime.

In his recent work, “HARMONY,” Frisell blends classic jazz guitar influence with early American folk, improvising melodies that evoke smoky, nostalgic tones. Teaming up with Petra Haden, Hank Roberts, and Luke Bergman, the album showcases Frisell’s original compositions alongside covers.

Acknowledged as one of America’s vital artists, Frisell was honored as an inaugural Doris Duke Artist and received grants from United States Artists and Meet the Composer, among others. His contributions extend to serving as a Resident Artistic Director for San Francisco Jazz and being the subject of the documentary “Bill Frisell: A Portrait,” exploring his creative process. He’s also been awarded an honorary doctorate from the Berklee College of Music.
