Step into the President’s Oval Office and strap yourself in for a wild rollercoaster ride through the cutthroat world of politics with “POTUS”! This riotous all female production hits the stage at the Segal Center on May 16th, keeping audiences in stitches until June 2nd. Penned by Selina Fillinger and directed by our very own Lisa Rubin, this play is a hilarious romp fully entrenched within the walls of the White House.

Prepare to meet a contrasting crew of characters who infuse the corridors of power with their own distinctive brand of pandemonium. From the perpetually flustered press secretary, played by the incomparable Jennifer Villaverde, to the cunning chief of staff, portrayed by Astrid Van Wieren, there’s never a dull moment in this presidential playground. And let’s not forget the colorful supporting cast, including the president’s pregnant mistress, Dusty, brought to life by the dynamic Kayleigh Choiniere, the indomitable First Lady Margaret, played with style by Rachael Crawford, and the president’s quirky ex-inmate sister Bernadette, hilariously portrayed by Elvira Kurt. Completing this powerhouse ensemble are Catherine Fitch as the confused President’s Aide and Cherissa Richards as the intrepid journalist Chris.

But buckle up, because “POTUS” isn’t for the faint of heart! Expect vomit, blood, and a healthy dose of so-called “obscene” language, along with some steamy sexual connotations and plenty of raunchy humor. This play is a whirlwind of physical comedy, featuring jumps, dances, shouts, screams, and kisses galore – truly, “POTUS” has it all!

Yet amidst the uproarious laughter, “POTUS” also offers a poignant reflection on the human side of politics, tackling issues that resonate with our real-world struggles. As the characters grapple with tough decisions, navigate the treacherous waters of personal relationships under the unyielding glare of public scrutiny, and confront the consequences of their actions, they reveal the all-too-relatable struggles lurking beneath the surface of power.

The second half of the play really kicks into high gear, addressing the key issues introduced earlier and culminating in a toe-tapping, clap-along musical closer that will leave you uplifted and energized.

With its sharp dialogue, biting satire, and unexpected moments of poignancy, “POTUS” offers a fresh and entertaining perspective on the absurdities of governance. Whether you’re a political aficionado or just seeking a night of hilarious entertainment, get ready for a presidential extravaganza that will have you laughing, cheering, and contemplating the

quirks of leadership and the world of politics.

The running time is 2 hours with a 15-minute intermission.
