Even the soggiest weather forecast couldn’t dampen our anticipation, for the upcoming concert on the Main Stage in Confederation Park. The buzz in the air was palpable as fans gathered ready to revel in the iconic funk rhythms of the Parliament Funkadelic concert featuring George Clinton.
Despite the rain, the crowd’s spirit remained undeterred. Fans danced and jumped throughout the nearly two-hour concert, driven by the electrifying rhythms emanating from the stage. The infectious beats transformed the park into a frenzied, joyous whirl of movement. P-Funk fans, representing all shapes, ages, sizes, and colors, mirrored the diversity of the musicians on stage. The oldest member of the band, George Clinton himself, is a sprightly 82 years old, while the youngest band member is just 26, showcasing a remarkable span of musical talent.

In a testament to their enduring influence, sixteen members of Parliament-Funkadelic were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, and the group received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.
Remarkably, many renowned musicians began their careers with P-Funk or one of its off-shoots. These were some of the original funk masters at work, and their performance was nothing short of spectacular. The concert was a testament to the enduring legacy of Parliament-Funkadelic, and I left feeling energised and eager for their next performance.
