Umbrellas and rain gear were en rigour this past weekend at the 44th annual Ottawa Jazz Festival. The impending downpour didn’t deter anyone from coming out and having an awesome time. Ottawa music fans are a hardy lot enduring what they must to enjoy their favorite music festival. Featured on the Main Stage at Confederation Park this past weekend was, funk, funk and more funk.
The Ottawa Jazz Festival kicked off on Friday with a vibrant evening of music highlighted by Trombone Shorty and his New Orleans Avenue band. Saturday kept the Funk in the park with the legendary Dr. Funkenstein 82-year-old George Clinton and his Parliament-Funkadelic all-stars. Today’s jazz offering is slightly muted with the free Secret Show at Irene’s: Nation Beat at 8:30 pm and for the night hawks, check out: Forty One at the late night jam that takes place at the Lord Elgin Hotel.
