On an idyllic Saturday night, the grounds of LeBreton Flats were set for an outdoor rock and roll extravaganza featuring the legendary Mötley Crüe. How times have changed since the 1980s when “the Crüe” were a hard-hitting, menacing force in the concert scene. This time, a full house welcomed them, and the most dangerous things encountered were the crushed beer cans scattered underfoot, like crinkling land mines in the dark.

The open-air venue was spectacular, with a clear night sky providing a perfect backdrop for a fantastic light show. Powerful spotlights shot overhead from the back of the crowd, hitting the stage with authority.

Despite the show’s brevity, clocking in at about 90 minutes, it was packed with energy and left the audience wanting more. The crowd, a mix of die-hard fans and starry-eyed teens and tweens, sang every word of every track, creating a multigenerational connection that was palpable.

Mötley Crüe kicked off the night with ” Primal Scream” and delivered a setlist full of favorites. Standout performances included “Live Wire,” “On With The Show,” “Looks That Kill,” and the crowd-pleaser “Dr. Feelgood.” My companion for the evening, Joey B from Montreal thrash band “Panic”, and I were thoroughly impressed.

Tommy Lee energized the crowd with a mid-show pep rally, calling out to the crowd and requesting the women to show their “goodies”, which they obliged, giving the big screens left and right of the stage a whole new ‘raison d’etre.

While Vince Neil’s voice showed signs of strain at times, he pushed through, ensuring the sold-out crowd left with big smiles. The sound was raw yet crisp, resonating through the bodies of everyone present. “The Crüe” delivered a powerful performance, proving that they can still rock as hard as ever.

Featuring iconic favorites, a great venue, and an unforgettable night—I’d happily see Mötley Crüe again, anytime, anywhere.
