This summer’s blockbuster has arrived, combining action, adventure, mystery, and romance in one thrilling package. “The Fall Guy” is a crowd-pleaser with something for everyone, offering a joyride for movie lovers and a thrilling tribute to stunt performers.
Ryan Gosling stars as Colt Seavers, a stuntman who makes high-risk stunts look effortlessly cool. Colt doubled for the egotistical star movie star, Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). When Tom’s vanity led him to demand an extreme stunt, Colt took a real fall and broke his back. Depressed and in pain, Colt left show business, along with his film-director girlfriend, Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt).
After his lengthy recovery, Colt avoids stunt work and instead works as a valet at a local restaurant. That changes when he gets a call from top movie producer Gail Meyer (Hannah Waddingham), who needs him back on set in Australia for a film directed by his ex-girlfriend, Jody.
Hoping to rekindle his relationship with Jody, Colt returns to the set and surprises her by performing an incredible stunt. Although Jody is initially unhappy to see Colt, their chemistry reignites. However, Gail reveals that Tom, the film’s lead star, has gone missing. She asks Colt, who knows Tom well, to find him discreetly to avoid negative publicity and a production shutdown.
Colt embarks on a mission to track down Tom, only to encounter dangerous criminals. His stunt skills prove invaluable as he navigates this perilous journey. The plot thickens when a dead body is found in an ice-filled bathtub, tying Colt to a larger mystery and conspiracy.
The film’s soundtrack, featuring composer Dominic Lewis, includes a cover of KISS’ “I Was Made for Lovin’ You” by YUNGBLUD and Blake Shelton’s rendition of Lee Major’s “Unknown Stuntman.” The soundtrack is available on vinyl and CD from Mutant Records.
“The Fall Guy” is a visually stunning film, available on Blu-Ray, 4k Ultra and DVD. Stay through the credits for unexpected cameos, extended cuts, and gag reels. This summer blockbuster is a must-watch, offering no-brainer eye candy for everyone.
