Let’s start off by saying I am a big chicken and scare easily. You won’t see a review of a horror film from me any time soon. Neil Jordan’s thriller “Greta“ had me comfortably intrigued one moment then, as the film progressed, I was at the edge of my seat.
Isabelle Huppert plays a widow, Greta Hideg, who lives alone in New York City. When Francis McCullen (Chloë Grace Moretz) returns Greta’s lost purse she is welcomed as a new companion. However, things quickly turn south for young Francis. Some questions came up during the film. One of them being: Does anyone still use a landline?
Perfectly cast, Isabelle Huppert, Chloë Grace Moretz, and Maika Monroe truly do this film justice. The audience laughing at inappropriate times was very distracting but Jordan’s choreographed dance of macabre and dark humour sustained the thriller. Overall I found the film thrilling without losing any of the psychological intrigue.
